Bosphorus Cruise (bus and boat)

Half day

We are pleased to offer you a very attractive half day tour where you can learn about the buildings and history of life around the two major sites of Istanbul: The  Golden Horn and the Strait of Bosphorus. The Golden Horn is a sea tongue, at the entrance of the Bosphorus that get 7.5 kilometers into the city and was the place chosen by the Greek colonists to found the city of Byzantium. The Strait of Bosphorus, or Istanbul Strait, is a strait that connects the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea and constitutes a natural boundary between the continents of Europe and Asia.

The Golden Horn (from the bus): has several places of interest for tourists. The historic coast pass through the neighborhoods of Fener and Balat, declared a World Heritage Site in 1985, along with other areas of Istanbul. We will visit in a panoramic mode from the bus: Fener, considered the city's Greek neighborhood, which has, for example, the Sveti Stefan Bulgarian Church, build of iron in Vienna and moved, piece by piece, to its present site, where was assembled; the Mosque of the Rose, an ancient Byzantine church converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest, the seat of the Fener Greek Patriarchate, a study and reflection center of the Orthodox Church, or the Red Schoolhouse, a striking brick building of that color. We will also see Balat, the old Jewish area, with the Ferruh mosque or the Kethuda Ahrida synagogue, built in the fifteenth century.

The Spice Bazaar: This is one of the oldest bazaars in the city, also known as Egyptian Bazaar and the second largest covered market in the world after the Grand Bazaar. It is located in the busy district of Eminönü, near the New Mosque.

Boat trip along the Bosphorus: This historic strait is one of the most beautiful places in the world, praised in numerous writings and descriptions of travelers since antiquity, inspiration of several works of art. Here you will enjoy the beauty of traditional wooden houses, mansions, palaces, fortresses and the huge bridge linking two continents, Asia and Europe, in a nice boat ride between two seas, the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara.

Rumeli Fortress (from the outside): In order to conquer the city and prevent reinforcements arrival to the Byzantine Constaninople through the Black Sea and the Danube, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, ("The Conqueror"), decided to build a fortress just in front of Anadolu Hisarı Fortress (Fortress Asia), between 1451 and 1452. Since 1960 this fort is used as a museum and outdoor theater for concerts and summer festivals.
